Vacuum Coating Lead Technician

The Vacuum Coatings Lead Technician will supervise and coordinate the activities of one of the two Vacuum coatings teams and assist on the operation of the vacuum deposition tool when required.
Directly reporting to the Principle Process Engineer, you will coordinate the production and characterisation of thin films as planned for achieving internal targets and outputs, the testing and implementation of process development projects and general housekeeping of the deposition tool.

Job Purpose:

Attainments / Experience: (what qualifications / training / experience is required by the person)  A levels in the relevant subjects with technical training in physics, chemistry, engineering, or related fields   Experience working with thin film coating techniques, such as physical vapor deposition (PVD) or sputtering  A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in physics, chemistry, engineering, or related fields
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: (What type of knowledge and abilities are required by the person)  Ability to operate and maintain complex and sophisticated thin film coating equipment   Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings for the thin film coatings   Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of technicians in a fast-paced and dynamic environment   Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of personnel and customers in both written and verbal forms   A good problem solverKnowledge of optical materials, properties, and applications, such as glass, metals, dielectrics, or semiconductors   Ability to perform quality control tests and inspections on the thin film coated products   Ability to work independently and solve problems creatively and analytically
